3 July--So, what to do on Kevin's birthday in Japan? Hmmm. Oh, I know. We can go to Sanrio Puroland, aka Hello Kitty Land. Yes, the home of Hello Kitty and all of her acid-dropping furry friends. Why? Well, if Anna Grace ever knew that we were this close to Hello Kitty Land (about 5 miles away) and we didn't go, she might hate us forever. And, since it was Kevin's birthday, he could declare this to be his birthday wish and the older boys would have to accept it without complaint.
So, off to the trains we went. We only had to jump off the train once because we thought we were on the wrong line. Turns out we had been on an express, so it skipped a few stops, but not the one we wanted, so we waited a few minutes and hopped on the next one. Five minutes later, we arrived.
The place was a bit strange. All indoors, which was nice, but kind of dark and cave-like. We had a heck of a time finding our way around, but once we rang the noon bell we did find a cafeteria to eat in. Tasty treats all around!
After lunch we found Hello Kitty's house, so we rang the doorbell and went in to meet the legend. We played on some of her toys, drove her car, rode her train... You get the picture.
The place really kind of wore us out, so we left at around 3:00 and headed back to our home away from home away from home. What more fun could possibly await us? Oh yeah, a birthday party for Kevin, complete with Hello Kitty party hats and a homemade jello cake.

Let the acid trip begin.

Yes, the Kirin gets poured into the Kello Kitty cup.
One bonus is you get to keep all the plates, cups, etc... that
your lunch is served in/on.

Apparently getting a drivers license in Japan requires little experience.
See? No hairballs!
We came all this way for a lousy picture?

Lorri had packed a special "Over the Hill" candle for Kevin,
but for some reason it could not be found, so we had to
settle for the scented candle instead.
At least one of the boys was entirely in his element on this day.
Don't worry, Jacob. I promise this picture will not
reappearuntil your bachelor party.
Who needs a Hello Kitty party hat when you have
a Hello Kitty party dress?
Now, what kind of birthday surprise is this?

Hello Kitty all day long. And you all survived. I am sure you will never forget this birthday!!
