They woke early (0400) on Sunday morning and made their way to the Outdoor Rec on base, where a bus with all their boards and boots was waiting to take them to YongPyong Ski Resort. The bus left Osan at 0530 and arrived at YongPyong (Translates to Dragon Valley) at 0830. Part of the package included half a day of lessons for Jacob, and Kevin tagged along for an hour as a refresher, as the last time he had touched a snowboard was 10 and a half years ago at Mt. Buller in Australia (4th of July, 1999).
By lunch time Jacob was well on his way to being an X-Games Boarder (along with the spills and bumps and bruises that accompany fame and glory). On his first run after lunch, Jacob had a major wipe out which caused them to sit in the lodge and rest for an hour and a half before Jacob's sore head felt good enough to resume.
The rest of the day went flawlessly, and Jacob made it all the way down the run with only one minor wipe-out on his last run of the day.
Sore muscles and tired bodies were the order of the evening as the "boys" rode the bus back to Osan and arrived home at precisely 2030 (the time Kevin had told Ethan he would be home, by the way).
Riding the lift for the first time.
On top of the mountain for the first time.
He seemed to enjoy it!
Heading up for the last run of the day.
He did it!
Where's Waldo?

OhMyGosh! It looks like Jacob had tons of fun. And a pro, too! All pros biff it at least once. Look at the Olympic folks who fall. But it also looked like a great day for boarding. Glad you both had such a good time.
